Because people with hearing loss often do fairly well in quiet, face-to-face situations, signs of hearing loss often may not be obvious. To make a quick assessment of your own hearing, try answering these simple questions:
- Do people seem to mumble or speak in a softer voice than they used to? yes no.
- Do you feel tired or irritable after a long conversation? yes no.
- Do you sometimes miss key words in a sentence or frequently need to ask people to repeat themselves? yes no.
- When you are in a group or in a crowded restaurant, is it difficult for you to follow the conversation? yes no.
- When you are together with other people, does background noise bother you? yes no.
- Do you often need to turn up the volume on your TV or radio? yes no.
- Do you find it difficult to hear the doorbell or the telephone ring? yes no.
- Do you find it difficult to hear water boiling when you are in the kitchen? yes no.
- Is carrying on a telephone conversation difficult? yes no.
- Do you find it difficult to pinpoint where an object is (e.g., an alarm clock or a telephone) from the noise it makes? yes no.
- Has someone close to you mentioned that you might have a problem with your hearing? yes no.
If you answered "yes" to one or more of the above questions you will benefit from a hearing consultation.

7 ingredients for beautiful hair
Avocado offers excellent nutrition for hair and is often found in shampoos in salons. Crush some avocado, mix with mayonnaise or olive oil. Apply the paste to hair and leave on 20 minutes to add vitamins to the hair.
Vinegar helps eliminate build-up and leaves your hair clean and manageable hair. Douse your hair with three parts water and one part vinegar. This can be done monthly.
Honey is made by bees from the nectar of flowering plants. It’s high in vitamins and minerals and has wonderful benefits for skin and hair. Honey is both a humectant and emollient, serving as both a moisturizer and conditioner.
Mayonnaise is a great conditioner! It can be mixed with avocado and rubbed onto your hair. However, don’t let the oily stuff get on your scalp because it’s difficult to wash off.
Rosemary helps to prevent hair loss and stimulate the follicles. Rosemary oil can be used in your shampoo or massaged directly into the scalp without adding any shampoo. Leave on for 20 minutes then shampoo, rinse and condition.
Coconut oil contains some of the best natural nutrition for hair. Regularly massage your scalp with coconut oil to keep the scalp free from dandruff. It’s an excellent conditioner and promotes hair growth. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair.
Olive oil helps repair split ends, heal dandruff and make your hair shiny, silky and lustrous! Massage a few tablespoons of olive oil into the scalp and hair. Cover with a plastic shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes. Then shampoo, rinse and condition!
