How long would you be willing to wait in line for chicken salad? Ten minutes? Thirty minutes? An hour?
How about 15 hours?
That’s how long Watervliet resident Betty Place sat in a camp chair outside of Chicken Salad Chick, a fast-casual restaurant chain that opened in the former Clifton Park Moe’s on Tuesday. When I got to her around 9:30am, half an hour before the doors officially opened at the Atlanta-born chain’s first location in New York State, she was at the front of a line that stretched down the sidewalk, around Jersey Mike’s, and out toward the entrance of Panera Bread. I asked her if she’d ever been to one of Chicken Salad Chick’s other 347 locations across the US before.
“I’ve never even heard of them,” she said simply.
