For more than four decades, Mazzone Hospitality has been the name behind many of the Capital Region’s most memorable celebrations. Known for exceptional food, thoughtful service, and seamless execution, the company has become the trusted catering partner for wedding venues across the area.
“Our approach is rooted in collaboration, consistency, and genuine hospitality,” says Justine Ochal, vice president of sales and client relations. “When we partner with a venue, we’re not just providing food—we’re helping shape the entire guest experience. Our teams handle the details so our venue partners and clients can feel fully supported from the very beginning.”
The company’s story began in 1981, when founder Angelo Mazzone opened Peggy’s Restaurant in Schenectady and launched Canalside Catering. What started as a single restaurant quickly grew into a robust catering and hospitality brand recognized throughout the Capital Region. Today, the name Mazzone has become synonymous with exceptional weddings, celebrations, and special events.

Mazzone now caters a portfolio of venues across the 518 and beyond, ranging from grand, historic ballrooms to scenic country estates. One of their newest exclusive partners, The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires, is a boutique, waterfront venue right on Pontoosuc Lake in Lanesborough, MA—and offers an all-season, luxurious, and tranquil escape just 30 minutes from anywhere in the Berkshires. While each venue has its own distinct atmosphere, couples consistently love the flexibility that Mazzone offers when it comes to menus, presentation, and overall style.
“Our culinary team thrives on customization,” Ochal notes. “Whether a couple envisions a curated tasting menu, a family recipe passed down through generations, or interactive late-night food stations, we work closely with them to make those personal touches come to life. No two weddings are ever the same—and that’s the fun of it.”
Beyond catering, Mazzone provides event design services, including styling, décor, luxury linens, tabletop selections, lighting enhancements, and specialty rentals. The result is a fully integrated planning experience that allows couples to streamline their vendor team while achieving a cohesive, elevated aesthetic.
Wedding clients frequently share heartfelt feedback about their experiences, often noting the attentiveness and care of the Mazzone staff. One recent review described the experience as “effortless, joyful, and beautifully orchestrated,” with the reviewer praising the team for “thinking of every detail before we even knew we needed it.”

But Mazzone’s impact extends far beyond weddings and celebrations.
“We are also proud to offer exceptional workplace dining through Prime Dining, our full-service corporate dining program,” says Jim Kavanaugh, director of Prime Dining. “We partner with many of the region’s leading companies and organizations to provide onsite culinary programs that include daily dining services, catering, and executive hospitality support. What makes Prime Dining unique is our approach: we bring the same level of care, quality, and hospitality that Mazzone is known for in our event venues directly into the corporate environment. Whether it’s a café lunch service, an executive meeting, or a special employee appreciation event, we treat every experience with the same standard of excellence.”
Mazzone also provides culinary services in college dining programs as well as independent and assisted living communities, and supports Meals on Wheels services for homebound residents—ensuring nourishment and hospitality reach individuals across all stages of life.
“There is a lasting legacy behind what we do, and we take that responsibility seriously,” Ochal says. “Every meal, every event, every interaction reflects the culture that Angelo built. Our goal is always to deliver warmth, care, and excellence—no matter the setting.”
