Not to be captain obvious here, but pizza sales have been through the roof since COVID hit in March 2020. And on the heels of that trend, one of Troy‘s oldest, most beloved pizzerias has decided to expand—again.
Collar City staple DeFazio’s Pizzeria will be opening a second location in a space adjacent to Albany Distilling Co.‘s ADCo Bar & Bottle Shop at 75 Livingston Ave. in Albany. The Albany Times Union is reporting that the new pizzeria could be opening as early as May, but that might be wishful thinking, given that its pizza oven won’t even be on its doorstep until April 18.
The new DeFazio’s Albany outpost will be offering a full menu of wood-fired pizzas, appetizers, antipastos and homemade desserts. It will also be offering to-go orders, and conveniently, the shop’s pizza can be delivered to customers enjoying cocktails at the bar or on the patio at ADCo next door. Hours are looking like they’ll be 11am–9pm, Monday through Saturday.
DeFazio’s Pizzeria is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and its adjacent Italian food and specialty goods store, its 70th. Back in September 2020, DeFazio’s Troy location began its own $2 million expansion, with it eventually moving to a much larger space down the street at 216 Fourth St.
Albany Distilling Co. has been open since 2012, and has expanded from a single line of whiskey to a stable that includes rum, vodka, brandy and canned cocktails.
