This weekend, NYC-based photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya’s work will be on display in Light and Life: Moments in Time and Space, an exhibition that has been described as a multimedia presentation of projection and a manifold series of thematically distinct imagery, at The Park Theater in Hudson. Wijesooriya, a Minnesota native, is known for his documentary approach to photography that explores a universal and nostalgic visual language of the world. He specializes in landscapes, portraits, aerial perspective, and nature photography, which takes center stage in Light and Life. “It presents nature as how it made me feel,” Wijesooriya says about his photos from the Yucatan that are part of the exhibit. “Timeless, abstract and elastic.”
The exhibition, which has been curated by Saratoga Springs native Nicole Ianniello, is going on July 22 and 23 from noon-7pm and July 24 from noon-5pm, with live music and drink specials from Illegal Mezcal and Drink Moment on Saturday evening starting at 5pm. It will be going on in conjunction with Upstate Art Weekend, a three-day, self-directed arts event that includes more than 100 exhibitions plus open studio hours in Hudson and towns south, including Woodstock, Rhinebeck, New Paltz, and Beacon.
