What’s New: Summer 2026

It’s Play Time In Troy

Tiger Mama isn’t just an indoor playground—it’s a third space for the whole family. Founded by moms working and living in Troy, the new space features a play area meant for littles up to 7 years old (including a play structure inspired by Monument Square!) as well as tables and seating where caregivers can work, connect, or just be. Get a single-play pass for $20, a 10-visit pass for $175, or a monthly membership for $95, or book Tiger Mama for your next event—space is available for both kid birthday parties and adult meetings and workshops.

Anotha One!

A clear sign that a local business has, for all intents and purposes, made it? They’re opening a second location (or a third, or a fourth). This spring, a handful of beloved 518 businesses were hard at work on their expansion plans: Albany’s Bitchin’ Donuts opened a spot in Colonie, Bud’s Coffee (pictured on top) expanded from its locations in Green Island and Schenectady to Glenville, Albany’s Emack & Bolio’s announced it’ll be opening a new ice cream shop in Latham, Mr. Bumbles Café expanded from New Scotland Ave to Broadway (both in Albany), Vermont-born chain The Skinny Pancake now has spots in both Albany and Latham, local chain Tipsy Moose (pictured above) is moving forward on plans to open in Delmar, and Viva Empanadas, known for its Albany and Latham locations, is eyeing a summer opening in Saratoga.

Mucho Gracias

You’ve heard of a mobile bar…but what about a mobile matcha bar? After moving to the Capital Region from Colombia in 2021, Karina Aycardi is now launching Mucho Matcha, which is exactly that. So far, the bar has popped up at local businesses including Two Little Dumplings, The Hot Yoga Spot, and Sur La Table, plus the Schenectady Farmers’ Market. Check them out on Instagram at @518muchomatcha to see where they’ll be next, or book them for your upcoming event.

The Brewery Shuffle

The 518’s brewery scene is ever evolving, and right about now, Saratoga County is the epicenter of change. Last fall, Guilderland-born brewery Mixed Breed Brewing moved its operations to Van Patten Golf Club in Clifton Park, and this spring announced that it’d be expanding to a second location: the former home of Unified Beer Works in Malta, which closed in December. Similarly, Delanson’s Back Barn Brewing recently opened a spot in the former Real McCoy Beer Co. location in Ballston Spa. (All Real McCoy locations were closed as of early this year.) And, per the Albany Business Review, powerhouse Albany brewery Fidens Brewing has plans to invest $13.6 million to build a new brewery in the parking lot behind Panera in Malta.

Old Daley’s New Groove

Daley Hospitality Group has been creating memorable experiences for more than 50 years, both at restaurants and event venues. And this spring, the brand transformed one of its restaurants into an event venue. Nine months after closing the restaurant Daley’s on Yates, the spot was brought back as a venue that can accommodate up to 300 guests for cocktail-style events and 125 for seated events. A by-invitation launch event will show off the venue to wedding and event professionals this June.
