‘June Farms’ TV Show to Debut on Prime Video November 17

This just in: West Sand Lake’s June Farms, a gentleman’s farm and wedding venue known for its highly Instagrammable Highland cattle and quaint hillside hobbit house, will be the subject of a new eight-episode, unscripted TV show centered around the venue’s wedding operations.

At the center of the show is June Farms owner Matt Baumgartner, a restaurateur-turned farmer who opened June Farms in 2017. (He’s the guy behind the now-closed Bombers Burrito Bar, Olde English Pub, and the Wolff’s Biergarten locations.) He also recently published a children’s book.

“I was living in New York City and going down three or four days a week because I’d started a menswear line there,” Baumgartner told Saratoga Living in 2018. “The restaurants and all were doing great, but I didn’t feel happy. I wanted to do something to enrich my soul—to work the land and breathe the fresh air. As much as I love the restaurants, this is giving me a lot more happiness than I ever thought it would.”

Years later, June Farms has become a destination for both locals and out-of-towners, offering farm tours (with cow brushing!), overnight stays at an eclectic selection of lodging options (including the aforementioned hobbit house), and events. “We throw all types of events on the farm,” Baumgartner says in the trailer of June Farms. (Yes, the show shares a name with the farm itself.) “But weddings are definitely the most exciting.”

The trailer goes on to depict the stress of putting on the perfect wedding and all the things that don’t quite go as planned. In one scene, Baumgartner laments the fact that he’s showing a beautiful bride a mud pit—presumably following a period of intense rain. In another shot, a June Farms employee tries to sweep several inches of water off an outdoor patio in a torrential downpour.

But June Farms is also about the personalities who make some of this region’s most gorgeous weddings come together. “People tend to get into relationships at June Farms,” Baumgartners says in the trailer, as a young couple kisses on screen. A young bartender blushes behind the bar in another scene.

In the words of Prime Video’s marketing team, the show is about “farm owner and restaurateur Matt Baumgartner, an accomplished but demanding entrepreneur, who runs the farm, restaurant/bar and events space with the help of a team of well-intentioned 20-somethings who aren’t always on the same page as their detail-obsessed boss.”

June Farms will premiere on November 17, with all eight episodes available at once. In an October 22 Instagram post, Baumgartner put it simply: “I can’t believe this is happening!”
